Invitation to comment on Draft Endorsement Criteria Assessment (DECA) of IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements

We welcome the opportunity to comment on Draft Endorsement Criteria Assessment of IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements.

We have no objections to the proposed endorsement and adoption of IFRS 18 in the UK.

We have an observation regarding the UKEB's tentative conclusion in paragraph 27 of the draft DECA, that IFRS 18 will not bring a significant change in accounting practice. In our view practical evidence of the impact of the new standard is too limited in order to reach a final position at this stage, albeit we agree with the pros and cons that are set out in the draft DECA in paragraphs 13 and 14. We do not object to the UKEB's tentative decision that a post-implementation review by the UKEB is not necessary, however, we suggest the UKEB monitors the situation as more information about the impact of the new standard emerges.
