Webinar - UK Endorsement of IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts

Webinar

Date held 30 March 2021

Investors, analysts and other users of insurance company accounts are invited to attend a webinar on IFRS 17 – UK endorsement.

The objective of IFRS 17 is to provide more transparent and useful information about insurance contracts. It is also intended to improve international comparability, removing some significant current inconsistencies and enabling investors, analysts and other users to perform more meaningful comparisons between insurance companies.

Following the UK’s exit from the EU, IFRS 17 needs to be assessed by the UK Endorsement Board (UKEB) if it is to be adopted for use in the UK.

As part of this assessment it is important that the views of investors and other users of insurers’ accounts are heard. This webinar forms part of the UKEB's engagement with these stakeholder groups and is intended to initiate discussion around key aspects of the standard from the user perspective.

The webinar will provide an update for investors and include:

  • A presentation from Nick Anderson, IASB Board member, explaining the key changes that IFRS 17 will introduce and addressing key issues for UK investors;
  • Initial views from equity analyst and ratings agency perspectives on how the standard could impact their analysis of insurance business.

The UKEB secretariat will also outline the project to assess IFRS 17 for UK adoption and explain how you can get involved in outreach.
