Response to IASB on potential changes to the subsequent accounting for goodwill.

Date: 17 December 2021

The UK Endorsement Board (UKEB) has published its response to the IASB’s research questions on potential changes to the subsequent accounting for goodwill.

The response concludes that, based on our outreach and research, a potential transition to an amortisation and impairment model for the subsequent measurement of goodwill would be unlikely to have a major impact on financial stability of UK IFRS reporters and that the majority of UK IFRS reporters who responded to our survey did not anticipate major operational changes if there were to be a transition.

The response highlights that the UKEB is planning to conduct field-testing on the possible consequences of potential changes to the subsequent measurement of goodwill. If you would like to take part in field-testing in Q1 2022, please email contact@endorsement-board.uk

Thank you to all who participated in this project.
