Pauline Wallace Steps Down After Five Years as UKEB Chair

10 September 2025 (5 hours ago)

fter five successful years as the UKEB’s inaugural Chair, Pauline Wallace’s tenure ends today, as she hands over to her successor, Paul Lee.

The UKEB Chair, Pauline Wallace, said:

“As a great believer in the important role high-quality international accounting standards play in a strong and competitive UK economy, it has been a privilege to lead the UKEB from its inception to the influential and effective organisation it is today.

I am proud of what the UKEB has achieved during my five years as Chair. Leading an organisation from start-up through to maturity has been a fascinating and challenging journey and its success is due in great part to the unwavering commitment of the Board and Secretariat who I have been honoured to lead. I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to them, and to UKEB’s stakeholder community, for their strong support.

As I come to the end of my tenure, I feel confident that the UKEB will continue to go from strength to strength under the leadership of its new Chair, Paul Lee.”

UKEB Chair Designate, Paul Lee, said:

“As an inaugural member of the UKEB Board, it has been my pleasure and honour to work with Pauline since 2021 and to see, at first hand, the commitment she has shown, throughout her tenure, to ensuring that the UKEB has consistently achieved its statutory objectives and established itself as an influential voice in the development of high-quality international accounting standards.

A key factor in the UKEB’s success to date is the high regard in which Pauline is held both within the UKEB and the wider international accounting standard-setting community. Her commitment to delivering outcomes that enhance investment market confidence and growth through high-quality reporting, in the UK long-term public good, has helped to underpin the UKEB’s influence on the development of standards, and so our effectiveness as the UK national standard setter for international accounting standards.

On behalf of the UKEB Board and Secretariat, I give sincere thanks to Pauline for her strong leadership and for ensuring that, as I begin my tenure as UKEB Chair, the organisation is in a strong position to deliver on its statutory obligations and future strategy.”
