International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) publish first exposure drafts on climate and general sustainability-related financial disclosures

Date: 31 March 2022

Today the ISSB has published two exposure drafts, in line with the IFRS Foundation’s commitment at COP 26. These are:

  • IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information; and
  • IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures.

The proposed standards can now be downloaded from the ISSB webpage ‘Open for Comment’ and will be open for public consultation until 29 July 2022.

The UK Endorsement Board (UKEB) considers that global standards for sustainability have the potential to be as significant for the market and stakeholder transparency as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The Board also recognises the need for close alignment and connectivity between financial and sustainability reporting to ensure that the information will provide investors with high-quality, comparable and decision useful information.

We will be seeking feedback from UK stakeholders on the areas of overlap with IFRS in due course. If you would like to be involved in our outreach, please contact us at contact@endorsement-board.uk.
